Part of a multi-Billion dollar renovation program here at the Pentagon.

6:05:11 [Jamie McIntyre] “I could see parts of the airplane that crashed into the building. Very small pieces of the plane on the heliport, outside the building. The biggest piece I saw was about 3 feet long, it was silver, and had been painted green and red. But I could not see any identifying markings on the plane, I also saw a large piece of shattered glass that appeared to be a cockpit windshield or other window from the plane. When this plane hit the Pentagon this morning, according to the Pentagon Spokesman, Craig Quigley, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld incredibly is described as having run out of his office and down to actually help some of the victims onto stretchers until he was ushered into the National Military command center

6:07:30 [Jamie McIntyre] “From my close up inspection there’s no evidence of a plane having crashed anywhere near the Pentagon. The only site is the actual side of the building it is crashed in. As I said, the only pieces left that you can see are small enough that you can pick up in your hand. There are no large tail sections, wing sections, fuselage, nothing like that anywhere around… which would indicate that the entire plane crashed into the side of the Pentagon.

9:03:50 “How do you know what to believe? We had an arab journalist in London just today, saying: ‘we had this information a few weeks ago, it was coming, we didn’t know whether to believe it’ “ Note: she is citing a claim by Abdel-Bari Atwan that he had given to Reuters earlier that day that he had (allegedly) been told by members of Bin Laden’s inner circle that he was in contact with that an attack was coming weeks prior to 9/11. He had no physical evidence of said claim, only his word. Abdel-Bari Atwan had interviewed Osama Bin Laden in November of 1996 and claimed to have kept close contacts with his followers. Atwan had been approached in london by a Bin Laden Representative (Khalid al-Fawwaz) and offered the interview. This interview is considered the turning point on how which Bin Laden was treated by western intelligence. The Bin Laden Unit (Alec Station) used it as a supporting analytic justification to argue for expansion and urgency. The interview was significant in that it was the first extended explanation of his war logic, the first time he spoke calmly, at length, and strategically and the first time Western analysts heard his thinking in narrative form. Bin laden had released a Formal Document titled “Declaration of War Against the Americans Occupying the Land of the Two Holy Places” in August of 1996 and then did the Atwan interview explaining it all to the west in November 1996. In the Atwan interview Bin Laden states that they want to “bring Americans to fight us on Muslim land”

15:08:30 [Deborah Feyerick] {CNN Correspondent} “That is the information that I am getting from two sources, that there was a van either on the New Jersey Turnpike or the Garden State Parkway, and that it was near the George Washington Bridge.

There were two or three men who were in the van that was pulled over. It is not clear why the van was pulled over, but when it was, law enforcers found tons of explosives inside of the van.

That is, right now, all I am hearing. But again, two to three people in custody, and we are trying to get more information on that right now.”

15:09:12 “There is one report that it was on the New Jersey Turnpike. There is another report that it was very close to the bridge, if not on the bridge. So again, these details are emerging. We’re trying to piece them together. But that’s what we have so far, two to three people in custody, found with a van filled with explosives.”

15:30:14 [Wolf Blitzer] “We just received fresh video, new video, of the first plane smashing into the world trade center, I wanna show that to you and your audience, lets just watch.” [11:50 PM ET] So how could Bush have claimed to have ‘seen’ the first plane on tv if this video wasn’t released till 15 hours after it happened?
